Sunday June 10th, I went to Tokyo International Forum in Marunouchi. With 11 stories above ground and 3 below, Tokyo's first convention and art center is a magnificent venue embracing a glass atrium and four buildings each housing a unique hall. 7 multi-sized halls, the Exhibition Hall and 33 conference rooms cater to a wide range of needs and requests. Each of these refined spaces boasts the finest equipment and facilities.
June 9th and 10th, 25th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Gnathology and Occlusion was held in the exhibition hall. The URL of this forum is http://nichigaku-event.com/
This forum is for dentist, orthodontist, dental hygienist, company related to dentistry, and so on. The purpose of this forum was to discuss about past, recent, and future dental science. According to the medical dictionary (Merck Source), they defined gnathology, “the science that deals with the anatomy, histology, physiology, and pathology of the jaws and the masticatory system (the part which you chew foods) as a whole, including the applicable diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative procedures.”
From that forum I got the pamphlet about connection between metabolic syndrome and periodontal disease (gum disease). I know we’re group which is searching about “Obesity” but I think disease like metabolic syndrome and diabetes are similar diseases. Recent study has proved the connection between gum disease, brain infarction, cerebral accident, pneumonia, heart attack, premature birth, low-weight baby birth, and diabetes. This is because those bacteria of gum disease go around the body and affect you to become serious diseases.

Periodontal (gum) diseases, including gingivitis (your gums are red, swollen, and painful) and periodontitis (symptom is same as gingivitis), are serious infections that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. The word periodontal literally means "around the tooth." Periodontal disease is a chronic bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth. Periodontal disease can affect one tooth or many teeth. It begins when the bacteria in plaque (the sticky, colorless film that constantly forms on your teeth) causes the gums to become inflamed.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes is genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.
Gum disease is linked to diabetic control. People with poor blood sugar control get gum disease more often and more severely, and they lose more teeth than do persons with good control. Diabetes can cause blood vessels to thicken and become less elastic which decreases the flow of oxygen and nutrients to body tissues and slows the removal of harmful waste. So if your blood sugar levels are not under control the sugar or glucose levels in your salvia increase and feed the bacteria in your mouth and set the stage for gum disease.
